USDT Token Burn

Tether says it has “redeemed a significant amount” of tokens from the circulating supply and will now “destroy” 500 million USDT from the Tether treasury wallet. This will leave 446 million USDT remaining in its treasury in preparation for future USDT issuances.

The redemption is visible on the OMNI blockchain explorer, which shows a confirmed transaction dated today of 500 million USDT in block 547155. Omni Explorer indicates that there are now 516,678,763.48 Tether Tokens at the time of writing.

Binance Donates to Japan Flood Relief

Binance has donated about 56.7 million JPY ( worth of crypto (63.03 BTC & 169.85 ETH) to remedy the West Japan donation. Including those raised from Individual donors in various ERC-20 tokens.

From the total donation, Binance transferred 61.09 BTC to local supporter Miss Bitcoin Mai. Mai (Mai Fujimoto, Founder of Bitcoin donation platform KIZUNA) converted BTC to JPY and bank-transferred 25 million JPY to Peace Winds Japan and 25 million JPY to Momotaro Fund.

Earlier this month, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said that he “hoped others would follow” his decision to donate all listing fees to charity

Binance's Fiat-to-Crypto Exchange in Uganda goes live

Binance Uganda, Binance’s first fiat-to-crypto exchange in Uganda, has officially launched live trading, enabling users to buy two major cryptocurrencies — Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) — with local fiat currency Ugandan shillings (UGX).

“Investing today in Africa could be the best trade of the century,” said Binance Labs Director Benjamin Rameau in earlier August.

The announcement notes that Binance Uganda does not limit registration to Ugandan, but ID Verification will be required to make withdrawals.

🎲 Current UX Issues of the Blockchain Technology

The issue for blockchain adoption is in the user experience. Real blockchain adoption will come when user experience are being prioritize but the blockchain's jargon are being hid from the end-user.

As potential users, we want to be sure that we would be covered in case of flight delay, and we don’t care about transactions, smart contracts, etc. We don’t care about the underlying technology, and we don’t want to adopt a new way of using it. Technology should follow existing user behaviors and habits instead of reimagining user experience to make it successful. Same applies to the communication, blockchain-powered services should talk user needs and potential values, not cool features or technologies.

Unreadable addresses

in a blockchain world, we face horrible and meaningless addresses, and we can not rename them, example: 1EQoU9muLBu4MF9gon3o9Tm8nQwwK6DVmu. Some people could say that it does not matter, you can copy and paste this lengthy string, this is done for privacy and security, etc. Still, it is all about ease of use — domain names are way more readable than IP addresses, you can easily remember godaddy.com instead of 104.238.65.160.

Take Away

Blockchain technology developers should consider more of the user experience instead of solely focusing on the underlying blockchain technology if we plan to drive mass public adoption and benefit from the technology.
